Why I Run
Right now, 101,000 Americans need a kidney transplant but only 17,000 Americans will receive one this year. Plainly speaking, we have some work to do. Here's where I introduce you to my favorite organization - The National Kidney Foundation. NKF is revolutionizing the fight to save lives by eliminating preventable kidney disease, accelerating innovation for the dignity of the patient experience, and dismantling structural inequities in kidney care, dialysis, and transplantation.
I can speak firsthand to the impact this organization has had on my own donation journey. It transformed the scariest experience of my life into the easiest thing I have ever accomplished. Because donating a kidney IS easier than running a marathon...which I've had to remind myself as I train for my second run.
If you can't donate your kidney (which again, is relatively easy thanks to my resources at NKF) consider donating to my fundraiser instead. The money goes directly to programs that help donors like me and recipients like my dad.
