John Mihaltses
Hi I am Dr John Mihaltses,
I am a board certified nephrologist (Kidney Doctor) at NYU Langone Long Island and I am planning to run my first marathon this November 2024 in NYC. I would love your support.
As a kidney doctor I can think of no greater honor than representing my patients in this historic marathon. Everyday, kidney disease patients face the unique and complex challenges of managing their condition, undergoing treatments, and hoping for better care options. I could tell countless stories of real people struggling with this disease however on personal level I am also running for my father a recipient of a kidney transplant. The kidneys control the internal climate of the body, keeping everything in balance, day to day. In kidney medicine we aim to preserve this vital function by healing kidney injuries, disease prevention and when needed, renal replacement. In the end, kidney medicine is about keeping the body in a healthy balance; it's a marathon not a sprint. Your donation can help the National Kidney Foundation and kidney researchers take the next steps on the track to a better future for 37 million Americans with kidney disease.
Thank you kindly for your support,
Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease, and I’m not okay with that. I walk because 1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease. I run because more than 1 in 7 people have it but aren’t aware.
I walk to raise funds that support the National Kidney Foundation, who was the first to identify kidney disease as a distinct, treatable illness. They developed the staged system of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment – a worldwide standard today – and release and update treatment guidelines to improve patient care.
Join me in making these advances possible by donating to my efforts!
Thank you for your support!
