Why I'm Running:

Gratefulness is so elusive!

I am so excited to be running my first full marathon on November 5 with Team Kidney Moves on behalf of the National Kidney Foundation.

About a year and a half ago, I was treated for kidney stones, a relatively common kidney disorder. It's such a minor illness relatively speaking, but it was still a disruptive few months during which I was often in pain that eventually required surgery and time off from work.

On the worst day, I vividly remember feeling shocked when I realized I had lost my ability to do everything I love most - exercising, smiling, supporting others, and calling family. I cannot begin to imagine what those battling more painful, longer-lasting illnesses would be going through.

I am running this race as a reminder to myself (and to those still reading!) to always prioritize health and to be more grateful for it when we do have it. I believe it's a responsibility we have to our loved ones and to all the hard work we've put into our lives so far!

By donating, you would be supporting the National Kidney Foundation, which is a voluntary health organization that plays a major role in preventing kidney disease and helping kidney patients navigate their treatment and path to receiving a kidney transplant if needed. I'd appreciate your support to this organization that does so much to improve lives in this area.

Thank you all for your support!

Best,
Johnny
