Why I Run

Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease. Black Americans are almost four times as likely as White Americans to develop kidney failure.

While Black Americans make up about approximately 13 percent of the population, they account for approximately 35 percent of the people with kidney failure in the United States. National Institutes of Health

My why for running the 2023 TCS New York Marathon is even deeper.

My sister Jessy is a three-time cancer survivor whose kidneys were damaged after many rounds of chemo. In 2022, she an aortic valve replacement that further injured her kidneys and she began dialysis immediately. In January, Jessy began the process of getting a kidney transplant and was told it could take many years to find a match. In July, she received a new kidney from her husband Brendan. A perfect match indeed.

I’m running to raise funds to support the National Kidney Foundation, which believes that everyone who needs a kidney should get a kidney.

Join me in making these advances possible by donating to my efforts!

Thank you for your support!
