I'm running the New York City Marathon with the National Kidney Foundation

Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease. The National Kidney Foundation is working to eliminate preventable kidney disease and improve access to kidney care, dialysis, and transplantation for people affected by kidney disease.  1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease and more than 1 in 7 people have it but aren’t aware.

In my work as a nurse practitioner I see the impact of kidney disease on my patients, and in my personal life I have seen my grandfather deal with kidney disease for the past twenty years. That has included the past eight years on dialysis three days every single week. While dialysis has been grueling, it has meant that many more years we've had with him. National Kidney Foundation is working to give more people access to that type of care that allows them time with their loved ones.
