In September 2019 I donated my kidney to my cousin Courtney. It was one of the most obvious yet scariest decisions I’ve made in my life. Through the whole process, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) helped us navigate the uncertainty of surgery and set realistic expectations for our recovery.
 

I was thrilled to have the chance to run the TCS New York City Marathon in 2020 with Team Kidney until COVID had other plans. So now I have the opportunity to run in 2023 and finish my fundraising efforts in doing so.

It now means even more since I have recently had my first child, and am getting back into running post-partum. 

I run to raise awareness of living donation and the life that you live post-donation without limits. I have been able to resume life as it was pre-donation with running, hiking and being active, and have a child. 

I’ve always wanted to run the NYC Marathon, and it is so meaningful to me that I now get to do it for a cause that saved my cousin’s life, and for the first time as Izzy's mom!
